The Lenovo Windows Server 2025 Standard 2-Core Add-On is used when a Lenovo server has more than the base 16 physical cores covered by the main Windows Server 2025 Standard licence.
Windows Server licensing is based on the number of physical cores in the server. A minimum of 16 cores must be licensed, and any cores above that need to be covered with additional core licences.
This add-on is commonly supplied with Lenovo server builds using higher-core processors, especially modern Lenovo ThinkSystem servers.
