Database licensing
Model the environment first.
Database edition and metric should be compared against the actual hosts, processors, virtualisation boundary and everyone or everything with access.

Oracle Database Standard Edition 2 perpetual licences and the Java SE Universal Subscription — supplied to UK IT brokers and MSPs. SE2 is licensed per occupied processor socket with a 2-socket-per-server hard limit; Java SE is now an employee-based subscription (priced across all employees, not just Java users). Support is separate (22% of licence cost, per year, from purchase date) and we quote it alongside or skip it on your call.
Commercial clarity
Oracle requirements change with the product, metric, deployment boundary and support position. We expose those variables before the order is treated as final.
Oracle Database SE2 perpetual licences

Per-socket licensing — 2 sockets per server max for SE2
Support quoted as a separate line item
Oracle metric studio
The right route is driven by how the software is deployed and accessed—not by whichever line item happens to look simplest.
Final programme, metric, quantity, support and entitlement position are confirmed before order.

Processor
Processor licensing is the usual comparison point for internet-facing, customer-facing or highly distributed access. The physical and virtual deployment boundary still needs review.
Scope signals
Oracle buying sequence
A clean Oracle quote is a chain of visible decisions. We keep the product, licence metric, quantity basis and support position explicit so the buyer can forward it internally.
Database licensing

Java and support
Java subscription scope and Oracle support or renewal are different buying decisions. We show each as its own line rather than hiding it inside a bundle.

How Oracle licensing works
Buy by processor when user counts are high, variable or hard to count: web apps, customer-facing systems, internet-exposed services. Quantity follows Oracle's core factor table, applied to every physical core in scope. Virtualisation rules can change the count, so confirm the deployment before you commit.
Buy by user when every person and device accessing the database is countable, typically internal line-of-business systems. Oracle enforces a minimum number of Named Users Plus per processor for Enterprise Edition, so check the threshold before sizing the order. We'll model both options on the quote.
