The ThinkSystem 440-8i passes 8 drives straight to the OS or software RAID. It is a PCIe 4.0 x8 HBA on the Broadcom SAS3808, handling 12Gb SAS and SATA. It provides no hardware RAID and no cache by design. It fits V3 servers including the SR630, SR650, SR655 and ST650. Right for software-defined storage such as vSAN, Ceph and Storage Spaces.
