The Dell PowerEdge R550 fills the gap between the entry-level R360 and the high-density R660 already in the catalogue. It is a 2U dual-socket server that accepts two 3rd Generation Intel Xeon Scalable processors, up to 16 DDR4 RDIMMs at 2933 MT/s, and up to 16 × 2.5-inch or 8 × 3.5-inch drives. The Smart Selection config ships with 1 × Xeon Silver 4309Y (8-core, 2.8 GHz), 16 GB RAM, and 1 × 480 GB SSD. It suits resellers and MSPs building virtualisation hosts, lightweight databases, and file servers for SMB clients. iDRAC9 Enterprise management is included. Dell 3-year ProSupport NBD on-site is the standard support option.
